Abstract

Background: Hypertension is one of the most common diseases that it influenced of different dimension of the quality of life people suffering from it, and One way of improving the health and quality of life is Empowering the patient and their family. The present research attempted to investigate the effect of family-centered empowerment model on the quality of life(QOL) in urban and rural patients with hypertension. Methods: This research is a intervention study is performed on 60(control group) and 60(Urban and rural Intervention Group) hypertension patient. The research tools included the Analog pressure gauge, questionnaires of demographic information, QOL SF36 and four empowerment dimensional. For the test group, the family-centered empowerment model was implemented according to its four steps (perception threat, problem solving, educational participation and evaluation).The post test was carried out 1/5 months after the intervention. The Data was analyzed by spss 20. Results: There were no significant difference between two groups of control with iterventio and rural with urban in demographic data(p>0.05). Independent T test indicated no significant difference between the groups in terms of their quality of life before of the intervention(p>0.05). but after of the intervention, Independent T test indicated significant difference between the control and test groups in terms of their quality of life(p<0.05). but after of the intervention, Independent T test indicated no significant difference between the urban and rural groups in terms of their quality of life(p>0.05). Conclusion: Our findings showed that the family-centered empowerment model was effective on increasing the quality of life of patients with hypertension, but there isnt any different between the rural and urban group.
